Tarpaulins is the title of an essay feature film by Lisa Truttmann, released in 2017. It is a minute look at Los Angeles’ tiniest inhabitants, termites, and at the same time a zig-zag attempt to grasp the macrocosm of the city’s vast landscape. It is a subjective view on a place and a circuitous conversation, embracing “unkempt activity”, restless labor, meandering thoughts and obsessive wanderings. For the group exhibition (with works by Ocar Cueto, Marlene Maier and Andrea Ressi) at Fünfzigzwanzig in Salzburg, she creates not a black but rather colorful box, in which visitors can view the film in its entirety. This way she aligns content and form in an uncanny manner. C-Prints and postcards are part of the installation.
